Florence Auma Oyoo, born in Siaya County, Kenya, completed her primary and secondary education locally before graduating from Moi University as a trained teacher. Since 2001, she has taught in four different high schools and currently serves as the Principal of Wasamo Girls Boarding Secondary School on Mfangano Island, Lake Victoria, a role she has held since 2016.

A passionate advocate for girl-child empowerment, Florence firmly believes that, with the right opportunities, girls have the power to change the world. At Abiero Girls’ Empowerment (AGE), she creates a safe space where girls can openly share the intrinsic and extrinsic challenges they face in a male-dominated society. She sees empowerment as a vital tool for freeing young girls from the triple threat of HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and early pregnancies—epidemics that plague the Lake Victoria region. Proudly aligned with AGE, Florence is committed to being a voice for change, helping girls realise their potential and achieve their dreams.
